2022-03-22Automatic decapping machine
I was looking for an automatic Decapping machine to decap my 9 para and 233 cases before I put them in the wet tumbler to clean them and thus have the primer wells clean and dry after cleaning. I was looking for a solution with a reasonable price, it’s just for Decapping.
While searching I found this automatic decapping machine at Shooting Technology, an Italian company for the price of 690€.
It can decap several calibers of short or long guns. For the 9 para, there is the option to have a thinner decapping pin when you have GECO SX style cases. The standard pin will successfully remove the primer but it may get stuck in the case and cause the machine to stop. The machine is delivered ready to use for 9 mm caliber. By changing the drum you can decap long gun cases like 308 or 223.
They have responsive support, I asked a few questions via email and received answers to all my questions very quickly. I ordered thinner pins and received my order in less than a week.
Easy Installation
To install this automatic decapping machine, I just bought a 16mm diameter pipe that I twisted to connect the Dillon case dispenser to the machine, put a flexible tube underneath to collect the primers and that’s it. For the purposes of the video I removed the cover that protects the mechanism on the front, to avoid getting your fingers stuck I guess. There are 3 speeds, to go from 2000 to 2800 cases per hour.
The whole thing is made of solid aluminum, no or very few plastic parts, it seems solid. Of course I have already twisted pin because of rock inside the cases…. It can be changed quite quickly. The machine also stops by itself when a case arrives upside down, I did the test..by mistake 🙂
After a few days of use, it meets my needs, it seems solid (still the problem of the needles but it’s independent); they have a reactive support, so only positive as a first feedback for the decapping of 9 para cases. Still to try the 223.
